Chelsea will try to keep Reece James back from England duty – insisting he needs to continue his rehabilitation from a muscle injury at the club.
James was called up by Gareth Southgate despite missing Chelsea’s last three games before Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final against Middlesbrough.
He has returned to training – but Thomas Tuchel insists he is still not ready to play.
Technical advisor Petr Cech is due to hold talks with the FA over withdrawing the wingback.
Tuchel said: “The recommendation is that he does not go. He is still in individual training, otherwise we would have brought him to Lille and we would have brought him here for sure.
“There is no doubt about it. He is still in individual training, he needs one more week of rehabilitation and I think we can provide this much better. It is not the job of the national team to do this.”
