Chelsea are in talks with Italian giants Inter Milan regarding a shrewd swap deal for Andre Onana as they aim to heed Gary Neville’s warning and sign a new goalkeeper.
The Blues have endured a shocking campaign this term and sit 12th in the table ahead of the final six matches of the season. Their poor campaign has followed a huge £600m outlay from new owner Todd Boehly in the transfer market - and it appears the American is not finished there.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Blues are in discussions with Inter regarding a deal for Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana. It is suggested that the Italian giants have put a €40million (£35m) price tag on the former Ajax star but an exchange could be on the cards to make a deal slightly more affordable.
Previous reports had suggested that current Chelsea stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga was among those to have been offered to Inter. That was swiftly rejected by the Serie A outfit but there are a few players that they would however consider.
It is claimed that Blues academy graduate Trevoh Chalobah would interest them as they aim to find a successor for Milan Skriniar - the Slovakian due to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The 23-year-old has found opportunities hard to come by at Stamford Bridge this season with just 19 starts in all competitions. Fellow academy graduate Ruben Loftus-Cheek is also thought to be admired by Inter with it being suggested that he could seek pastures new this summer.

The Blues will no doubt continue their dialogue regarding a deal for Onana and should they secure his services then they will be securing a much-needed signing in the opinion of Gary Neville.
Speaking on The Overlap, he said: “Obviously they’re [Chelsea] short. They’re short of a manager, they’re short of a centre-forward. I think the goalkeeper could be better.”
Onana, 27, is currently in the midst of his first campaign with Inter following a free transfer from Ajax. He has made 35 appearances in all competitions for the Italians, keeping 16 clean sheets in that time. The 34-time Cameroon international still has four years left to run on his contract at the San Siro.
Elsewhere, Chelsea have struggled between the sticks. Previous number one Edouard Mendy has failed to find his best form with just 11 appearances to his name in all competitions.
Kepa has 34 appearances to his name this term but still struggles to live up to the record-breaking price tag that saw him arrive from Athletic Club in the summer of 2018.
