Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Anthony Barry has arrived to start work at Bayern Munich following negotiations with Chelsea. Barry, a coach with an excellent reputation, has not been involved in Chelsea preparations since the German club made their approach following the appointment of Tuchel in March.
Barry has frequently drawn interest since joining the club in the 2020/21 season under Frank Lampard before continuing in Tuchel's team. The 36-year-old has combined part time roles with Republic of Ireland, Belgium and now Portugal during his time at Stamford Bridge.
The set-piece specialist has been linked with head coach roles at Championship clubs including QPR and Huddersfield Town in the past, while there was a suggestion he could join Lampard at Everton when he returned to management. Returning to work with Tuchel and a move to Munich appears to have finally persuaded Barry to depart.

Tuchel has been very public about his admiration for Barry's talents and his hope of adding the coach to his team in the Bundesliga. On Friday morning, he was finally able to comment on his colleague's arrival.
The former Chelsea head coach said: "He has just arrived. Finally there's a good coach (laughs). I'm very happy. We really wanted to have him with us. He has a great personality, passion and quality, whether it is details or set piece situations. I've not seen such a level before."
The teams are believed to have come to an agreement of a £1 million fee after a month of discussions over Barry. Chelsea were reluctant to sanction his departure at a time when the two sides could potentially face each other in a Champions League semi-final.
