Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Santos starlet Angelo in what the Blues hope will be another major transfer coup for a wonderkid. Three summer deals have thus far been announced by Chelsea with Christopher Nkunku as the marquee acquisition as he will go directly into Mauricio Pochettino's immediate first team plans.
Kendry Paez and Dujuan 'Whisper' Richards are the other two to have had their moves to Stamford Bridge confirmed in recent weeks although both will join the club once they turn 18. For Richards that will come at the start of next season, whereas Paez will officially arrive in 2025.
In the January transfer window, Andrey Santos was purchased from Brazil after his staggering impact in the Vasco da Gama senior squad after he in helped them win promotion the Brazilian Serie A. With the current Brazilian Serie A season ongoing, Angelo has thus far featured in every league outing with two goals coming his way both when deployed as right-winger. At just 18 Angelo, who according to the website Goal has his club hopeful that he could become the new Neymar, may become the eighth teenager to complete a transfer to Chelsea under the Todd Boehly regime with the emphasis now on players for the future.
Indeed, on that Neymar comparison Angelo wears the number 11 shirt just like the Paris Saint-Germain ace and his former teacher, Betinho, said 'he is like Neymar in terms of his dribbling at speed and his change of direction'. Chelsea's first team transfer plans also fit into that remit with Brighton's Moises Caicedo as the top summer target.
After focusing on outgoings, the Blues are now set to open official talks to sign the 21-year-old and 'attack' the deal with an opening offer worth £80m being discussed internally.
