Chelsea in 'advanced' Nathan Ake talks plus more Man City transfer rumours

Chelsea are said to be in ‘advanced’ talks with Manchester City over a potential Stamford Bridge return for Nathan Ake.

The defender has played only a bit-part for Pep Guardiola since his 2020 switch from Bournemouth. Ake left Chelsea for the Cherries in 2017 for £20m.

City paid £41m for the Netherlands international and are said to want to recoup that kind of fee for him if they're to sell this summer. They are hopeful that such a fee can be agreed with new Blues owner Todd Boehly keen to demonstrate his investment in his first transfer window.

That’s according to the Evening Standard, which also reports that Raheem Sterling could be a Chelsea player before the weekend. However, the London club's pursuit of Ake is complicated by City’s desire to have a replacement lined-up and Chelsea's reported interest in signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United.

Meanwhile, midfielder Diego Rosa has agreed to join Portuguese side Vizela on a season-long loan, according to O Jogo. The 19-year-old was signed by City in February 2021 but is yet to feature for the first team.

He spent the second-half of the 2020/21 season and the whole of last season on loan at Belgian side Lommel. Rosa is contracted at City until 2025.
