Chelsea have perfect chance to unlock dream Tuchel formation after Man Utd’s Haaland decision

Chelsea have received a huge boost to their hopes of signing Erling Haaland, with Manchester United reportedly cooling their interest in the striker.

The Blues have been linked with the Norwegian sensation for some time and appeared to be pursuing him with intent during last summer’s transfer window before eventually securing the club record signing of Romelu Lukaku.

His return to Stamford Bridge has not exactly gone to plan as of yet, having netted just eight goals in 23 appearances, whilst he has also courted controversy with his contentious interview where he admitted he was not totally happy in west London.

That could well see Thomas Tuchel and Marina Granovskaia renew their interest in Borussia Dortmund striker Haaland and they might well have somewhat of an easier run to secure his services.

According to ESPN, the Red Devils are ready to focus on alternative attacking options, having previously been credited with an interest in his signature.

Competition remains in the form of Manchester City and Real Madrid, but Chelsea will certainly be boosted by Manchester United’s decision.

Should the Blues make an effort to secure his services, and indeed bring him to Stamford Bridge, Tuchel could certainly field a fantasy strike partnership.

Haaland would almost certainly be partnered with Lukaku in the Chelsea attack - the two more than capable of finding the net having netted 71 goals between them throughout the 2020/21 campaign.

Of course, that would see Tuchel depart from the regular system that he has played since arriving at Stamford Bridge - with a solitary striker regularly called upon.

It would not be a surprise to see the German go down that route, having previously deployed a 3-5-2 system with Borussia Dortmund and French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

With the likes of attacking full-backs Reece James and Ben Chilwell providing ammunition for the strike duo from wide, an attacking partnership of Lukaku and Haaland would certainly be a tantalising prospect for Tuchel and Chelsea supporters.

Of course, this depends on Chelsea being successful in their pursuit of the Norwegian sensation but with Manchester United making a decision on their interest, the Blues should certainly be nudged into at least making an attempt to take him to Stamford Bridge sooner rather than later.
