Chelsea have high hopes for Omari Hutchinson, Lewis Hall and Carney Chukwuemeka in search for new Mason Mount

Chelsea are looking for the next Mason Mount or Reece James and have an exciting new crop emerging from their academy.

The Blues’ Under-21s side almost got relegated from the Premier League 2 last season but are now competing for the title again.

Meanwhile, new owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake have renewed investment in Neil Bath’s ‘Vision 2030’ to stay at the top at academy level.

Here are three Chelsea youngsters to keep an eye on in 2023.

Lewis Hall

The 18-year-old midfielder is best placed to make an impact at Chelsea. Hall has been permanently training with the first team for some time after excelling in the U21s earlier in the season.

He has just signed a new professional contract and played well in matches against Newcastle and Manchester City just before the mid-season break.

Hall played as a left wing-back in both games but prefers to feature in central midfield.

Carney Chukwuemeka

The £20million summer signing from Aston Villa excelled in his first three senior appearances from the bench against Wolves, Brentford and Manchester United.

Having just turned 19, the youngster showed he is ready for an immediate first-team impact despite initially being a signing for the academy.

Graham Potter would have used Chukwuemeka more often had it not been for a hamstring injury which has delayed his progress. He previously played 16 games for Villa at senior level.

Rave reviews: Ex-Arsenal youngster Omari Hutchinson has made a huge impression (Chelsea FC via Getty Images)

Omari Hutchinson

The 18-year-old has been in sensation form at youth level and impressed during the recent training camp in Abu Dhabi. Hutchinson, a summer signing from Arsenal, has been involved in three senior matchday squads under Potter.

The Chelsea manager is known to have been hugely impressed with his training performances and he was arguably the top performer in a recent friendly against Aston Villa.
