Chelsea have handed USMNT a timely boost over Christian Pulisic amid transfer talk

Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic has seemingly been given a fresh start under new boss Graham Potter, which can only boost the forward's chances for the USMNT at the upcoming World Cup.

The 24-year-old set-up the Blues' winning goal at Crystal Palace on Saturday and will hope to repay the faith shown in him by Potter at Selhurst Park. Coming off the bench to tee up Conor Gallagher, the US captain will hope to kick on with the Qatari based tournament now just a month away.

It hasn't all been plain sailing for Pulisic over the last 12 months, with rumours beginning to gather about a move away from Stamford Bridge over the summer. Manchester United were touted as a potential destination, but with Potter now at the helm, his recent comments could suggest a recall is close by.

As quoted by Goal, the newly-appointed Blues boss said: "I think players go through periods of their careers where they have to suffer a little bit for whatever reason and don't get their game time that they would like and it's part of the job, it's part of the sign up to being a Premier League player. It's not straightforward to be a regular in a top-four team.

"I can only comment on him in terms of how he's been with me. Really positive, he's an intelligent guy, articulate, knows how to express himself. My conversation with him has been good and positive, I'm not going to judge anybody on what has happened in the past, I'm going to make my own mind up. Football hopefully decides."

With England, Wales and Iran all to come in Group B, Pulisic will hope to lead his team to further glory. Having also suffered a poor run leading up to the tournament, much can be said about the Yanks' opponents, with all eyes heading towards the Middle East.
