Chelsea's continuing pursuit of Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt hit a major obstacle when it emerged that Bayern Munich had joined the race for the 22-year-old.
The Blues have been in negotiations over the past week for De Ligt, football.london understands, and there has now been a further update on a potential transfer.
Via reporter Rob Pratley, an update has shone more light on to the situation which also further confirms how challenging this deal will be for interim sporting director Todd Boehly to complete.

Pratley claims that De Ligt's agent would prefer him to sign for Bayern Munich as they think the Bundesliga suits the Dutch defender more than England's top tier. Chelsea's job is to not only agree a fee with Juventus but convince the player and agent otherwise.
Juventus still want to sell to the highest bidder and De Ligt wants to leave Turin. There could be a silver lining in that Bayern are keen to drive the asking price down, but the Italian club remain adamant they will not be short-changed for a player they bought for nearly £70m three years ago.
Chelsea's defensive crisis means that the Blues have to invest in multiple new additions this summer for Thomas Tuchel, with De Ligt one of many targets the club are reportedly in talks for. Nathan Ake is understood to have agreed on personal terms for a return to Chelsea but a fee still needs to be agreed with Manchester City.
