Chelsea have been handed a boost in their chances to sign Ousmane Dembele this summer as PSG have reportedly turned down the opportunity. It comes as the Frenchman is set to become a free agent in the summer.
The 25-year-old was previously linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in January, with reports claiming that there had been talks over a transfer with his deal running down. That never materialised, however Thomas Tuchel may have been handed a chance to sign him in the upcoming window.
The German coach is set for a huge summer ahead of him, admitting that his side needs a rebuild rather than strengthening. “We are rebuilding, not improving the squad. We are rebuilding. This is always challenging, but we are up for the challenge.”

While the defence may be the priority, with Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leaving the club as free agents, there will be other areas that need to be addressed. One particular problem was in the forward lines, where the Blues had struggled to score goals all season.
While Romelu Lukaku made the club-record return to Stamford Bridge, he failed to hit the heights in his first season, while the players around him equally struggled. That’s where Tuchel could look to improve, with revived interest in Dembele potentially on the cards.
That would only be made easier by the fact that the club would likely have a clear shot at him, as Le Parisien, via GFFN, reports that PSG have pulled out of the race to sign the forward this summer. The report claims that both his injury worries and his demeanour are a concern for the French club.
That could allow the Blues to make a swoop, with Tuchel already working with Dembele during his stint at Borussia Dortmund. The second half of the La Liga season he has shown his ability, something that Chelsea could make do with in their own forward line.
