The future of Lionel Messi, both internationally and domestically, is currently up in the air following Argentina's World Cup triumph with his current Paris Saint-Germain contract up in the summer. Messi joined PSG from Barcelona in 2021 on a two-year contract and where he will be playing his football for the 2023/24 season is unknown.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that a verbal agreement has been reached with Messi to stay at PSG beyond the conclusion of the 2022/23 season.
However, there are conflicting reports that suggest otherwise, with Ben Jacobs revealing no talks have occurred between Messi and PSG post-World Cup about an extension.

Clarity over Messi's future is proving extremely hard to come by and that isn't just regarding club football with Messi revealing it would be his last World Cup ahead of the tournament. But after securing the one trophy that has alluded him his entire career, he may have had a change of heart.
After his guiding his nation to world championship status, he said: "No, I’m not going to retire from the national team. I want to keep playing as World Cup champions with the Argentina shirt.”
Todd Boehly and Chelsea had registered an interest in acquiring the services of Messi, especially with his contract in France expiring in the summer and the latest updates seem to have given the Blues hope they could pull of a deal to sign the 35-year-old.
