Chelsea have been handed a boost over a potential big-money move for defensive target Milan Skriniar. The Blues have been licking their wounds after Jules Kounde heaped the misery on Todd Boehly with his decision to snub a Premier League move for a La Liga stay with Barcelona.
Amid all the uncertainty surrounding the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso, Boehly and the board have a big job on their hands of identifying targets to improve the Chelsea defence.
Pau Torres, Denzel Dumfries, Josko Gvardiol, Joakim Maehle, Wesley Fofana, Benjamin Pavard and many others have been linked, but as of today, nothing is advanced for any of those options currently as the board mull over their next moves. Skriniar is also a player who features prominently on the list but the consensus has been that Paris Saint-Germain were always likely to beat any team to the 27-year-old's signature.

But the latest news may give Chelsea some encouragement to make enquiries for a player that has been highly rated by Spurs manager Antonio Conte in the past.
This is because as per L'Equipe (via the Evening Standard), PSG and Luis Campos are threatening to walk away from negotiations with Inter with the Serie A outfit standing firm on their £68million asking price, which the French club are reluctant to meet.
With no compromise found, coupled with the news that Presnel Kimpembe is set to stay in Paris despite initial Chelsea interest, a need for a new central defender may not be as great in the French capital with Nordi Mukiele already joining this summer.
Chelsea could be given a free run at the defender, who would reportedly be happy to stay put in Serie A for the foreseeable future if his dream move to Ligue 1 cannot be granted.
