Chelsea given Jules Kounde transfer boost despite ongoing talks amid takeover solution

Chelsea have been handed a huge transfer boost in their ongoing pursuit of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde. The 23-year-old centre-back has long been linked with a move to West London with the Blues once again stepping up their interest in the player.

Kounde, who is under contract with the Rojiblancos until June of 2024 is thought to been heavily keen on making the switch this summer, with current defender Antonio Rudiger said to be on his way out of the club.

Thomas Tuchel's side are of course in the midst of takeover talks due to sanctions on current Russian owner Roman Abramovich, with three interested parties now said to have presented evidence of their own bid's to buy the club from him.

But with Kounde's desire to join the club now described by 90min as "unwavering", many will now describe the move as 'when' rather 'if' given the club's need to replace colossal defender Rudiger later this year.

Capped already internationally by native country France too, the 23-year-old has been highly sought after by many European clubs, with the Blues now in pole position to sign the defender.

Manchester United and West Ham had also said to be keeping a watchful eye on the situation in Spain, but Kounde's preferred location is thought to be the home of the current European champions.

With fellow centre-back Andreas Christensen now also heading for the exit door too, business could be that little bit trickier given ongoing talks of a takeover at the club, with it also unknown at present just who else will remain at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer months.
