Chelsea set to complete £100m sale
Arsenal are set to complete their first big signing of the summer after agreeing a £67.5m deal to buy Kai Havertz from Chelsea.
That’s according to The Times, who are reporting that Havertz’s likely departure from Stamford Bridge came on a busy day of transfer activity at Chelsea, during which the West London club agreed sales worth close to £100m.
As well as agreeing a deal to sell Havertz, the report also claims that a £30m deal with Manchester City for midfielder Mateo Kovacic has also been agreed. The midfielder is reportedly set to sign a four-year contract at the Etihad.
Mason Mount
Manchester United have reportedly tabled a second offer worth up to £50m for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, with negotiations ongoing between the two clubs.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who are reporting that United's bid would see them pay an initial £45m fee for Mount, plus a further £5m in add-ons. However, the same report adds that Chelsea are holding out for around £15m more as part of the up-front transfer fee.
Liverpool are planning to rebuild their midfield this summer, and Mount has been identified as one of the key targets. However, the Reds ended their interest once it became clear that the England international favoured a move to Old Trafford.
Sandro Tonali
Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth is reportedly in Italy with the club, hopeful of finalising a deal for Sandro Tonali.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Ashworth is in Italy, with the club hopeful of finalising a deal worth at least £50m for AC Milan midfielder Tonali. The report claims that Eddie Howe has identified the 23-year-old as his top target.
However, the report also claims that a fee is still to be agreed with the Serie A club, but the arrival of Ashworth in Milan is seen as a sign of intent to close the move, and that negotiations accelerated on Thursday after talks with intermediaries earlier in the week.
