Chelsea supporters are revelling at the thought of Hakim Ziyech leading Morocco to World Cup glory after a 'phenomenal' theory has been uncovered. The 29-year-old is set to lock horns with the reigning champions in the semi-final and, while the odds are stacked against the winger, Walid Regragui's side have been handed a strange lifeline thanks to the Blues' transfer business.
In 2014, Germany won the World Cup in Brazil and Andre Schurrle played a key role in his nation lifting the prestigious trophy. Ironically, the former Chelsea winger donned the No.14 shirt at the time.
Then, in 2018 when France won the World Cup, Olivier Giroud led Les Bleu to glory after having worn the No.18 shirt at Chelsea. Coincidence? Maybe. But, with this logic - which has been described as 'phenomenal' by Blues fans - Ziyech is tipped to win the tournament in Qatar with Morocco - and that means beating France in the semi-final and Argentina in the final!

Some Chelsea supporters have even suggested that Kalidou Koulibaly could win the World Cup in 2026. So, with that being said, football.london have collated some of the best reaction to the newly-uncovered theory.
A handful of Chelsea fans have also suggested that Reece James or long-term target Josko Gvardiol should take the No.26. France stopped England in the quarter-finals after Harry Kane's misplaced penalty saw the Three Lions' World Cup lifeline slip away.
Croatia, on the other hand, reached the semi-final but were knocked out by Argentina thanks to a magical performance by Lionel Messi. If the Blues fans' theory is right then Ziyech will be hoping he can continue his great vein of form and defeat the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner against all the odds.
Speaking on the Wrighty’s House podcast, Ian Wright has hailed the Chelsea winger for the 'different energy' he has shown at the World Cup amid disappointing displays in the Premier League. The former Arsenal striker said: 'I’m loving Hakim Ziyech at this World Cup, I’m loving him.
"I love the way he’s playing. He plays with a different energy when he plays for his country. I watch him at Chelsea and I’m not being negative, but the difference is this man needs it when he’s playing for Morocco.
"Remember he had all those problems with the [previous] coach, he wasn’t playing, then the coach is gone, they got their guy in and look at where they are now."
