Chelsea fans were left fuming after referee Paul Tierney - and VAR officials - decided not to send Tottenham's Matt Doherty off for a studs-up challenge on Malang Sarr.
20 minutes of the first half had been played when the Spurs and Ireland defender went in late and appeared to catch Sarr on the shin with his studs.
The 23-year-old looked to be writhing in agony as medical staff rushed on to the Stamford Bridge pitch but got back to his feet moments later after receiving attention.
VAR Darren England decided not to send off the Dubliner after a check was performed by officials at Stockley Park.
Referee Paul Tierney hadn't produced the yellow card prior to the VAR check for a possible red, so Doherty escaped without a booking.
Blues fans were seething and many of them took to social media to vent their frustration with Tierney and VAR officials.
One Twitter user commented: "How has Matt Doherty escaped a red card?"
Another social media user labelled the tackle 'awful', while another Chelsea fan chimed in to label the tackle 'disgusting'.
There was further VAR controversy in the first half at Stamford Bridge as Harry Kane had a goal ruled out for a push on Thiago Silva.
