Chelsea face fierce Youssoufa Moukoko transfer battle after Armando Broja injury blow

Chelsea face competition to sign Germany striker Youssoufa Moukoko from Borussia Dortmund.

The 18-year-old is available on a free transfer next summer and has been identified by Chelsea as a possible transfer target.

But talks with Chelsea are not advanced and there is interest in Moukoko from most of the other ‘Big Six’ clubs in the Premier League and several other major Champions League sides.

Dortmund are desperately trying to renew his contract before it expires at the end of the season.

Moukoko became Germany’s youngest-ever player at a World Cup when he came on in their shock 2-1 defeat by Japan in Qatar last month.

Chelsea could step up their approach for Moukoko after Armando Broja was stretchered off with a suspected knee injury in the 1-0 friendly defeat by Aston Villa in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

Broja and Chelsea are now awaiting the results of a scan but the striker could face a long spell out.

Chelsea manager Graham Potter said: “It was just an unfortunate action. He got caught up with their player and the ground.

“It does not look positive at the moment but it is too early to say. Fingers crossed but it is an awkward one.”
