Chelsea 'don't need Aubameyang or Wilf Zaha' as Neymar interest sparks mass transfer frenzy

Step one in breaking the internet: link an ambitious Premier League club on a transfer rampage to one of the world's biggest stars and a global name with less than three days until the end of the transfer window. Step two would probably include something about a price, but when step one is to meticulously followed that Neymar is announced as a target for Chelsea, that's not important.

With a move for Anthony Gordon stalling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being pushed close to the line by Barcelona, Wilfried Zaha was the new name that attracted interest of Chelsea fans as Todd Boehly looked to help Thomas Tuchel out.

The German is insistent on bringing in a new forward, or more, this window and has so far only managed to get Raheem Sterling to Stamford Bridge. It hasn't been for the want of trying. Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked along with Robert Lewandowski, Raphael Leao and Ousmane Dembele, that's just a few on the list.

Now, if Ronaldo wasn't a big enough attraction, Neymar has surfaced as an option for Tuchel, according to the Secret Scout. The transfer page posted saying, "Chelsea are working on trying to bring either Wilfried Zaha or Neymar to Stamford Bridge before the deadline as they look to add goals to their attack. Interesting few hours ahead."

Tuchel has already worked with Neymar before, getting a startling return of 51 goals and 31 assists in 67 whilst at Paris Saint-Germain. The Brazilian has already started this season on fire, bagging six goals and assisting another six in four matches. Boehly is ambitious and Chelsea are determined to get a forward in, Neymar's name has appeared and now everything seems uncertain once more.

The PSG star has already had a great time under Tuchel, getting to the 2020 Champions League final and saying: "Thomas Tuchel? I would give my life on the pitch for him. He is a truly brilliant man."

It would be a monumental deal for a player with three years still to go on his current deal and wages that would shatter the current structure at Chelsea, but the new owners would still love to get in a statement signing, and Neymar could be that man.

Here's how Twitter reacted:

@yjaalo: Are we reading correctly?

@TweetChelseaUK: Bit of a difference in the two but I won’t complain

@Kez_Mag_: Someone wake me up

@williameplcfc: Neymar? Considering how he started the season , this transfer will be near impossible

@AlexGoldberg_: Oh my. Neymar wouldn’t just be a massive get for Chelsea NOW, but perhaps he also helps us close the deal for Endrick…

@HKSaratov: If Neymar comes to Chelsea, then we don't need Aubameyang as well imo. I imagine Neymar would rightfully take the #10 shirt as well. Bring the jugador to Super Chels

@morganrdesign: Todd Boehly is actually god if he manages to sign neymar

@CFCRaf2: If we get Neymar I'm running around stamford bridge naked

@AnubhavKaushal_: Zaha or Neymar hmmmm let me think.. Throw everything on Neymar this guy is in the form of his life.

@LukaCPFC_: Signing one of the greatest wingers of our generation would be a massive statement from Chelsea Recon neymar would be a decent pick up for them aswell

@galaxy_lazy: Neymar is the rarest of rare talent. He plays in position where we need quality. He also scores goals. We must sign him if available at good price.

@CFC_Matt__: How about Neymar AND Zaha? A man can dream

@HajirFT: Neymar is the main man. You can’t be that guy unless you sell him, Chelsea are open to take him in for your sake @KMbappe
