Chelsea defensive duo make important transfer decisions as contract demands are known

Chelsea's Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen have reportedly made decisions on their immediate futures at Stamford Bridge.

The duo, as well as defender Antonio Rudiger, all have less than six months remaining on their contracts and are free to negotiate with foreign clubs this January.

Whilst Azpilicueta and Christensen continue to be involved in Thomas Tuchel's immediate setup, the situation is worrying, and there have now been further updates on their respective contract stances.

Azpilicueta will not make a definitive decision on his future until he meets with the club after the international break, according to the Daily Mail.

Reports in Spain had suggested that Azpilicueta had agreed to a two-year deal with Barcelona that included an option for a further year if he desired to stay.

However, because he has strong ties with the club, and as he has a settled family life in London after his three children were all born in England, he doesn't want to rush into anything.

Speaking earlier this month, Azpilicueta re-affirmed his commitment to the west London outfit: “As I always said, I feel I have the trust and confidence of the club and now I am focused on every game.

"They are very tough games, and I am enjoying the moment.

"Eventually, the moment will come, but I am fully focused on hopefully getting as many trophies as we can and then we will see.

“I cannot say anything more than that I am really committed and have a lot of things ahead in the coming months and hopefully we can have a very good season.”

However, if reports are to be believed, it's certainly looking like Christensen's future lies elsewhere.

football.london understands that Chelsea believed they had agreed terms with Christensen's representative over a new five-year contract in August. However, nothing was signed and a dispute then arose over the length of the proposed deal and the representative's commission.

Now, according to journalist Shay Lugassi, the chief editor of the Barca times, the Dane does not see his future at Stamford Bridge, with him and his agent "asking for a big signing on bonus" on his next contract.

Bayern Munich and Barcelona have been linked as potential suitors for Christensen, and we're likely to see developments in the coming weeks.
