Chelsea could enact Gabriel Jesus revenge on Arsenal by repeating Cesc Fabregas transfer trick

Could Chelsea be about to get one over on Arsenal once again in the transfer market?

Gabriel Jesus signing for the Gunners this summer over the Blues was a tangible case for supporters of the north Londoners to claim that their pull is growing and their west London counterparts' attractiveness has decreased slightly since Roman Abramovich left the club.

However, much groundwork had been done prior to the transfer window opening on June 10 between Edu and Jesus' camp, meaning Mikel Arteta's side was always going to be where the 25-year-old would end up, despite late transfer 'hijack' attempts from Chelsea and Tottenham.

New owner Todd Boehly and Chelsea had to move on quickly from this disappointment and despite what looks like to be further disappointments ahead in their pursuit of Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha, Raheem Sterling is set to don the royal blue shirt next season.

football.london understands that Sterling was permitted to do his medical in London after both clubs had agreed upon a £45million plus £10m in add-ons fee for the 27-year-old. He is expected to join up with the squad later this week in LA.

But who else will be joining the Three Lions international in the Chelsea attack next week? Well, the latest rumours seem to indicate that both Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowski could potentially replace Romelu Lukaku and the outgoing Hakim Ziyech in 2022/23.

According to various Chelsea sources and The Telegraph, new owner Boehly has met with Bayern Munich's director in recent times in London regarding the potential viability of such a transfer operation.

Gnabry's acquisition for the current World Champions would certainly be one that could make up for the Jesus loss. Based on previous tweets, the 26-year-old still has much affection for Arsenal, despite his four-year spell at the Emirates Stadium which saw him move on to West Brom and then the Bundesliga.

Interestingly enough, Bayern's No. 7 has already been linked to a Gunners return this summer but with Lucas Paqueta also in the equation now, Gnabry's next destination is currently unknown, with the Bavarians open to a sale after Sadio Mané was signed for £35m earlier this summer from Liverpool.

One of the last times both clubs had competed for the same player was with Cesc Fàbregas back in 2014. Both Arsène Wenger and José Mourinho wanted the Spaniard and the controversial decision at the time to ignore a North London return for Chelsea paid its dividends in the end, with the five trophies won during his near five years in SW6.

Chelsea and Arsenal fans- With Serge Gnabry's current value as per Transfermarkt at £55million, would you deem this fee to high or acceptable in your mind? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below!
