Chelsea could be handed Moises Caicedo bid boost with transfer windfall for forgotten player

Malang Sarr has interest from multiple unnamed clubs in France, football.london understands, and could leave Chelsea on a permanent basis this summer.

The 24-year-old has now entered the final two years of his contract at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea open to offers for the Frenchman. Sarr spent last season on loan at AS Monaco but Les Monegasques chose not to trigger the clause inserted in the contract that would have made the move permanent.

Sarr made just 17 appearances for Monaco in all competitions last season in a campaign that was disrupted by injury problems. The Chelsea man had surgery back in May on an injury, although the details of the problem were not disclosed.

Chelsea will listen to offers for Sarr, who has made 21 appearances for the club since signing from Porto in 2021, with no set price-tag being revealed at the moment. The Blues are currently in the middle of another busy summer transfer window that has seen them already offload eight first-team players and receive over £200million in the process.

Sarr looks likely to be on that list at some point this summer with plenty of interest in his signature. Chelsea view Sarr as expendable and will do their best to find the French centre-back a new home.

Any sort of cash injection, however little it will be, will be a boost for Chelsea in their pursuit of Moises Caicedo from Brighton. The 21-year-old midfielder is the club's priority signing this summer and the Blues remain locked in talks with Brighton over a deal to sign him.

Chelsea are prepping an official offer for Caicedo, football.london understands, with the Seagulls set to demand in excess of £80million for the Ecuador international. There is a genuine belief that Brighton will eventually accept around £80million for Caicedo, who has already verbally agreed on personal terms with Chelsea.

The Blues do not want to pay 'over the odds' for Caicedo but Brighton are very tough negotiators and will be looking for every penny possible from the financially powerful Chelsea. Paul Winstanley, Chelsea's director of global talent and transfers, is understood to be playing a significant role in negotiations.

Brighton continue to ask about defender Levi Colwill during negotiations over Caicedo but Chelsea do not want to sell the England international. Colwill spent the 2022/23 season on loan down at Brighton and caught the eye of many with his accomplished performances at the Amex Stadium.

Chelsea are planning to offer Colwill an extension on his contract, that runs until 2025, in the coming weeks. The 20-year-old is currently representing England Under-21s at the European Championships, but will join up with his teammates in America later this month for the pre-season tour.
