Chelsea could be faced with Jamal Musiala repeat regret with England U19 international

Throughout the years, Chelsea have produced a conveyor belt of highly-rated talents out of the Cobham academy. From Mason Mount and Reece James to Declan Rice and Tammy Abraham, the Blues boast one of the best youth academies in the country.

Mount and James are joined by Trevor Chalobah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja as Cobham graduates in Graham Potter's squad, with many former academy players regulars in some of Europe's top five divisions.

However, the hierarchy hasn't always gotten it right in decision-making. A recent example being defender Fikayo Tomori. The defender fell down the pecking order under Frank Lampard following the arrival of Thiago Silva and moved to Italy for regular team football with AC Milan.

Since then, the 24-year-old has won Serie A, made 77 appearances and threw his name into the hat for the upcoming England World Cup squad. But Tomori isn't the only ex-Blues man who has seen a change in fortune after moving away from West London.

Jamal Musiala joined Bayern Munich in 2019 and has scored 24 goals in 94 appearances. The now-Germany international never made his first-team debut for Chelsea and is now reaping the rewards. And this weekend, Samuel Iling-Junior made his professional debut for Juventus two years after joining the Italian giants.

The England Under-19 international found his options limited at Stamford Bridge and joined Juve in 2020 after rejecting a contract at Chelsea. After scoring 14 goals and assisting a further 15 for Juventus' Under-19s and four in nine for their B team, Iling replaced Filip Kostic in the 85th minute on Friday night in Massimiliano Allegri's side.

"I am very happy, a special moment for me, the family, the people I train with every day," he told Juve TV [via Tuttomercatoweb ].

"Serie A football. It is different from that of (Serie C). There are so many things to understand and learn."
