Chelsea could 'accelerate' interest to gift Graham Potter dream £13m transfer amid clear plan

Chelsea have taken a huge step towards signing Leandro Trossard in the January transfer window. The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Blues since his former boss swapped the Amex Stadium for Stamford Bridge.

According to Journalist Sacha Tavolieri, as quoted by The Express, the west Londoners could accelerate a move to bring the winger to Stamford Bridge after keeping a close eye on him in recent weeks. Trossard has featured 12 times for the Seagulls in the Premier League this season, directly contributing towards nine goals.

Ironically, one of which came against Chelsea at the weekend as Roberto De Zerbi's side trounced the Blues 4-1 at the Amex Stadium. The Belgium international's impressive performances have helped Brighton clamber into eight, courting the interest of former boss Graham Potter.

Tavolieri adds that Trossard impressed higher-ups during the Seagulls' win over Chelsea, and because of this, they could be tempted to sign him earlier than first planned.

With a move to west London supposedly on the cards, the Belgian has already admitted that he would want to follow former boss Potter to Stamford Bridge 'if the opportunity arises'. But, the Belgian insisted that he would not settle for anything less than a place in the Blues' starting XI.

"Our coach has now left for Chelsea, but speculations about me following him are pointless," Trossard said in September. "If the opportunity arises, I want to go. But I do want to play and not sit on the couch."

Then, when asked again about a move to west London, Trossard said that he'll be putting talk of a move away from the south coast on hold until after the World Cup. The final of the international competition is on December 18, with the January transfer window set to open just under two weeks later.

"It's very difficult to answer that," the £12.9million-rated winger Play Sports. "That will have to wait until [after the World Cup]. I'm not on it at all right now. Brighton and the World Cup are the next goals. Afterwards, we'll see where it ends."
