Chelsea 'considering' move for Cristiano Ronaldo and more Manchester United transfer rumours

Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Cristiano Ronaldo after the Manchester United forward was said to have asked to leave this summer.

According to a report by The Athletic, Chelsea are keen to bring Ronaldo to Stamford Bridge. Ronaldo is said to be desperate to play Champions League football and so hopes to engineer a move away this summer.

The report adds that Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel is a long-term admirer of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. While United refuse to entertain the thought that their talisman could leave, Ronaldo himself has yet to comment since reports of Chelsea's interest surfaced.

Elsewhere, United were reportedly interested in signing Tottenham attacker Steven Bergwijn, though their interest has since cooled with the Dutchman seemingly set to sign for Ajax. According to a report by Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, United were 'prepared' to pay a higher fee than Ajax to sign Bergwijn.

The Spurs ace is set to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Ajax have reportedly agreed a £28.5million fee to take him back to the Netherlands - a move Bergwijn has his 'heart set on'. It is claimed, however, that United, as well as Everton, were ready to pay £35million to secure his services.
