Chelsea and Aston Villa have confirmed an agreement has been reached for the signing of Carney Chukwuemeka. The 18-year-old, who had less than 12 months remaining on his contract at Villa Park, is now set to become the Blues' third summer signing.
Chukwuemeka has now been given permission to travel to London to discuss personal terms and then undergo a medical before being officially confirmed as a Chelsea player. The highly-rated teenager has been heavily linked with a move away from Villa in recent months because of his contract situation.
Villa wanted to keep the England Under-19 international, but there was loads of interest from all across Europe. Chelsea have seemingly won the race to sign the talented teenager, who is expected to go into their development squad for the upcoming season.

Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard recently insisted he wanted Chukwuemeka to stay with the club for the long-term future. Hopefully, he is going to be a big player for Aston Villa," said the Liverpool legend.
"We want him to stay here long-term. We believe this is the best place for Carney. I hope that situation progresses in a positive way."
Chukwuemeka is expected to become Chelsea's third summer signing following the arrivals of Kalidou Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling. The Blues are also in advanced talks to sign Marc Cucurella from Brighton, while negotiations with Leicester City continue over a deal for Wesley Fofana.
