Chelsea confirm Graham Potter sack decision ahead of crucial Liverpool Premier League clash

Chelsea look to have made their Graham Potter sack stance clear following a turgid Premier League defeat at the hands of Aston Villa. Following another unsuccessful attempt to secure a victory at Stamford Bridge in the last few weeks, after a 2-2 draw with Everton, Potter has seen the pressure on his stay in west London mount significantly.

Six games in all competitions without a victory, stretching across January and February, handed co-owner Todd Boehly a major sacking decision. At that time, Potter was seemingly given a pivotal four days to keep his job with home clashes against Leeds and Borussia Dortmund on the horizon.

The Blues were able to win both games and thus allow Potter to breathe safely for at least another few weeks. However, further poor results has seen that pressure return, but Chelsea don't look to be acting instinctively by dismissing Potter.

As reported by The Sun, a media e-mail circulated at 8:32am on Sunday morning confirmed that Potter will take the pre-match Liverpool press conference at the Cobham training ground on Monday lunchtime. Therefore, that seems to at least reveal Chelsea's immediate sacking stance and in turn the decisive game that could determine whether or not Potter stays.

Fabrizio Romano revealed that internal talks were to take place in the comings days regarding Potter, and with no announcement about a departure combined with the confirmation he will hold a press conference on Monday, the result of those talks seems to be Potter has his job for now.

Similarly to the importance of those meetings with Dortmund and Leeds, anything but a triumph over Liverpool could see Potter sacked. CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs also claimed it is "business as usual" at Chelsea today (Sunday).
