Chelsea confident of sealing Anthony Gordon and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang deals before transfer deadline

Chelsea are increasingly confident of sealing deals for Anthony Gordon and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before the transfer window closes.

The Blues are said to be prepared to pay up to £60million to sign Gordon from Everton. Talks are continuing over a move for Aubameyang, while Chelsea are also interested in AC Milan forward Rafael Leao as they bid to bolster their frontline.

Tottenham have also had interest in Gordon but the 21-year-old is thought to be keen on a move to Stamford Bridge. Everton are reluctant to lose Gordon and have rejected several approaches from Chelsea. But the Blues are edging closer to an agreement over the winger.

Sunday’s 3-0 defeat at Leeds underlined the need for new arrivals and Chelsea are now stepping up their bid to strengthen their squad.

They are in advanced talks to sign Aubameyang. The former Arsenal captain has been reluctant to leave Barcelona but Chelsea met his representatives last week in a bid to convince him to move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have been encouraged towards a second set of discussions on a deal for AC Milan forward Leao.

Leao, who was named Serie A's most valuable player last season for his contribution to Milan's first Scudetto in 11 years, is thought to be keen on the switch to the Premier League.

Milan are in talks with Leao over a new contract but Chelsea are considering a move for the 23-year-old.

Chelsea have had two bids rejected for Wesley Fofana and will need to make the 21-year-old the most expensive defender in the world to sign him from Leicester, who want over £80m.

The Blues have already splashed out over £170m on six new signings this summer and new owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake are ready to take their spending in this window beyond £300m.
