Chelsea spent more than any other Premier League club in the summer transfer window and Todd Boehly looks set to splash the cash once again in January.
Following Graham Potter's arrival as manager of the Blues, succeeding Thomas Tuchel back in September, he has been unable to add players that fit his style of play. His first chance to do so will be in the new year when the January transfer window roles around with Chelsea being linked with a number of stars across Europe.
Cristiano Ronaldo is now without a club after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract at Manchester United having been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge over the summer. AC Milan talent Rafael Leao is on the Blues' radar but a deal in January could prove difficult to secure with the Serie A champions keen to tie him down to a new deal.

Whilst Chelsea continue to be linked with moves for both Ronaldo and Leao, there is another Portuguese star they could look to sign instead. Joao Felix has emerged as a potential transfer target in January after informing his agent, Jorge Mendes, that he would like to leave Atletico Madrid in the new year, according to Spanish news outlet Marca.
The report states that his desire to leave comes after his relationship with manager Diego Simeone and parts of the Wanda Metropolitano crowd has deteriorated. Boehly has previously met with Mendes to discuss the possibility of signing Ronaldo, but he now may look to arrange a new meeting regarding a potential move for Felix.
The 23-year-old forward signed for Atletico back in 2019 after completing a £108million move from Benfica, but he has struggled to live up to expectations in the Spanish capital. Ronaldo, Felix and Leao all scored for Portugal as they beat Ghana to kick-off their World Cup campaign and Chelsea scouts would have surely been keeping a close eye on all three forwards as they prepare plans for the January transfer window.
Felix's contract isn't set to expire until 2026 meaning Atletico could demand a significant fee for the Portuguese forward. Chelsea signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Raheem Sterling in the summer but both strikers have failed to fire the Blues up the Premier League table, whilst Kai Havertz and Armando Broja have also seen their form struggle in front of goal.
