Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel speaks out on uncertain future amid Manchester United links

Thomas Tuchel insists that he is committed to Chelsea, despite his future with the club being the subject of much speculation after the UK Government placed multiple sanctions on owner Roman Abramovich.

Manchester United, who will hire a permanent manager in the summer to replace Ralf Rangnick are reportedly interested in capitalising on the uncertainty surrounding the Blues in order to appoint Tuchel.

Chelsea’s immediate future has been the subject of intense debate in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as a result of which Abramovich has had a number of restrictions placed upon him due to his alleged links to Vladimir Putin.

The Blues had already been put up for sale in the wake of the invasion, however with the club now unable to sign new players and offer their existing stars new contracts, rival clubs are sensing they can take advantage of the situation.

United for instance could pounce, with Rangnick, who will be moving into an advisory role in the summer thought to be keen on the idea of appointing his former protege as the club’s long-term manager.

However, despite the concerning headlines regarding the club’s future Tuchel insists that he remains fully focused on achieving success on the pitch this season

“So let’s go day by day. There’s no other solution at the moment," he said.

When asked if he was prepared for the manage the club in a very different set of circumstances than were originally present to him, Tuchel replied: “Let’s see, let’s see.

“First of all, I like where I am, because I appreciate the value it has to be in a club with a mentality that fits so good to my mentality.

“I appreciate the amount and quality of support I’ve found in this club.

“There I feel very privileged and very lucky. I know how much I need this to be the best version of myself. It has big, big value.

“I never had in any contract that I can spend this amount of money, or that amount of money, that I need this player.

“I never did this in any club.

“I trust myself also to adapt to a lot of situations. I trust my ability to influence teams. I’m happy to be part of that big team at Cobham and at Chelsea.

“I’m still very, very happy, and I hope it will not change.
