Chelsea and USMNT star Christian Pulisic has three transfer options including Man United

Christian Pulisic's future hangs in the balance with a Chelsea exit likely.

Pulisic is struggling for game-time at present due to injury with the USMNT star out of action for two months since picking up an injury in a game against Manchester City. The 24 year-old is back in training with the Blues ahead of the Champions League knockout tie with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

Pulisic, who was signed from Dortmund in a £59 million deal in 2019, has struggled to hit the heights expected of him since his move and is facing increased competition after Chelsea's recent spending. With Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke adding to Graham Potter's options on the wing after signing in January, Pulisic now has to compete with the duo as well as Raheem Sterling, Joao Felix, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and David Datro Fofana.

If Pulisic, under contract until the end of next season, does leave then there are some options for him.

MLS move

Pulisic could seal a return to America, with the US gearing up for the return of the World Cup in three years. The MLS is no longer the home of retiring players from Europe and is becoming a hotbed of talent as the game grows in North America.

Clubs such as LAFC, Atlanta United and Inter Miami have the financial clout to be able to pull off a deal and Pulisic could return to his homeland. Pulisic, still only 24, could reignite his career in familiar surroundings.

Dortmund return

Dortmund have made a name for developing players in recent years and that's what happened with Pulisic after he moved to the Westfalenstadion in 2015. Again, a return to a place he knows well could allow him to flourish and with Dortmund challenging for top honours in the Bundesliga and Champions League regulars the platform is there for Pulisic.

Pulisic was a regular for Dortmund and made over 100 appearances for the club before leaving for Chelsea. With Marco Reus out of contract in the summer, Pulisic could replace the German international at Edin Terzic's side.

Man United follow-up

Man United could follow up their interest in Pulisic after they were linked with a loan move for the player in January. He would not need to adapt to life in the Premier League given he has been at Chelsea for the past few years.

Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag is overseeing a cultural change at United and Pulisic would be given a fresh start at Old Trafford. Commercially, he would also be a key signing for the club's American owners as US groups are linked with a takeover of United.
