Chelsea and Tottenham on red alert as Inter Milan star makes huge £43m transfer decision

Chelsea and Tottenham have been handed an update on the future of Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar ahead of the summer transfer window. The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent years, though a deal has never materialised.

He featured 35 times for the Italian giants in the Serie A this season, steering Simone Inzaghi's side towards a successive Scudetto. Though, despite the Slovakia international's best efforts in helping Inter retain the second best defensive record in the league, they fell at the final hurdle.

Amid Skriniar's impressive campaign for the Nerazzurri, he's reportedly courted the interest of Manchester United, joining the west and north Londoners in the pursuit for his signature. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the trio of Premier League sides have watched the centre-half this term.

However, despite the flurry interest in the defender's services, Skriniar has addressed the rumours and ruled out a departure from the San Siro. Speaking to Pravda, via Football Italia, the Inter Milan stalwart claimed that he wants to follow a similar one-club man career path to Napoli legend Marek Hamsik, who enjoyed a twelve-year spell at the Italian side.

Skriniar, who is valued at around £42.7million by CIES Football Observatory, said: "I’d love to do something similar to what Marek Hamsik did at Napoli. My future is at Inter, I have a contract and nothing has changed. There are transfer rumours every six months, but there’s nothing specific. I am very satisfied at Inter.”

The Inter defender's decision regarding his future hands Chelsea and Tottenham a major blow in their summer transfer window endeavours, with both Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte both eager to make a number of signings.

Todd Boehly's consortium, who completed a £4.25billion takeover of the west London club on Monday, are expected to 'push for A-list signings' to mark a new era at Stamford Bridge, according to the MailOnline. With Boehly eager to bolster the Blues' armoury, The Telegraph indicate that after player sales are taken into account, Tuchel is set to have £200million at his disposal to strengthen his side.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have been handed a major boost ahead of the upcoming transfer window, with Conte keen to build upon an exciting debut campaign in charge. The Telegraph claim that the Italian wants as many as six arrivals this window; a centre-back, a right wing-back, two midfielders, a forward and a backup goalkeeper.
