Chelsea and Manchester United told how much it will cost to complete Declan Rice transfer

Former Premier League forward Teddy Sheringham has claimed that Declan Rice is worth up to £160m as both Chelsea and Manchester United continue to be linked with a move for the West Ham United star.

The England midfielder has continually been linked with moves after starring for the Hammers over recent seasons.

Chelsea are among the clubs to have emerged as admirers in Rice - their interest stretching back to the tenure of Frank Lampard. Elsewhere, the Red Devils have been backed to make a move as they continue their search for a potential Paul Pogba replacement - the Frenchman’s contract expiring at the end of the season.

However, Sheringham has suggested that a move for the midfielder could be one of the most expensive transfers in world football.

Speaking with Genting Casino, he said: "I think Moyes said something about him being a £100 million player, didn’t he?

“I’d hold on to him and say, “I want more than that, this player’s unbelievable, he’s better than that. If you really want this guy you’re going to have to break the bank and show me you think of him as much as I do, because I’m not letting him go for £100 million.”

He continued: "You tell me about a midfield player in the world at the moment. He’s double. When the best centre forward in the world was up for sale in the summer, Tottenham wanted £200 million for him, the other clubs didn’t have that valuation.

“I’m going up to 150, 160 for Declan Rice. He’s brilliant, and it’s great to see him, because it looks like he gets better with every game."

Rice, 23, is currently in the midst of another very impressive season with West Ham.

He has made 30 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers, scoring four goals and notching as many assists.

He has two-and-a-half years left to run on his current contract at the London Stadium.
