Cheikhou Kouyate makes 'big' Nottingham Forest claim after transfer

Cheikhou Kouyate says it is a "big honour" to be a Nottingham Forest player having made the switch from Crystal Palace.

The Senegal international became the Reds' 14th summer signing having inked a a two-year deal following four seasons at Selhurst Park. Having now joined a third English club after initially signing for West Ham United in 2014, he told Forest TV: "I'm so happy to be here at this great club.

"In Senegal, all young players want to come to England because they love the Premier League too much. The fans, they are great and it's the best competition ever, for all countries, we know that. And coming here it's a very big honour for me."

The 32-year-old is keen to pass on his experience to young players at the City Ground. "Yes of course," he added. "This is my dream because if I'm here today someone made me who I am today and anything I can do to help them, I'm going to do that."

Kouyate could make his Forest debut in this weekend's away Premier League game against Everton.
