Let's face it, we all love a cheeky McDonald's every now and again.
And while the fast-food chain makes an tasty meal for the odd treat, we know we shouldn't really be gorging ourselves on junk food all the time, no matter how delicious it might be.
But if you're trying to curb the craving for a tasty burger, then one chef on social media might just have the perfect thing for you - an easy recipe for a "healthy" homemade McChicken dupe that comes in at under 200 calories and has been described as "out of this world" by his followers.
Calvin Kang, from the US, posted a video to his Instagram account @cooklikeimbook in which he claimed to have created the perfect dupe for the famous McDonald's chicken burger, the McChicken, which came in at just 196 calories.
In the caption, he explained: "When I was a weight loss chef for 2 families, one of my former clients used to love McChickens so this recipe was developed for her so she could reach her fitness goals and eat healthier. Healthier McChicken."
The method of cooking the burgers is simple, as they can be stuck in the air fryer and cooked in minutes.
In the video, Calvin said: "196-calorie McDonald's McChicken, so now you can have four instead of just one. Unreal!"
The chef started by mincing 600g of chicken breast and putting it into a bowl, before adding all the seasoning the burgers would need - including paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
In a separate bowl, Calvin crushed up some cornflakes, and after mixing his minced chicken and seasonings together, he took around 105g of the mixture and coated it with the cornflakes to create his patties.
Next, he simply put his chicken patties into his air fryer with a spray of cooking oil and some black pepper and cooked for 10 minutes at around 200°C (390°F).
While the burgers were cooking, Calvin chopped up some romaine lettuce and began assembling his burger on a "low-calorie bun" with a small helping of light mayonnaise.
The full list of ingredients from Calvin's video:
- 600g Chicken Breast
- 1tbsp Mustard
- 1tsp Paprika
- 1tsp Cayenne
- 2tsp Garlic Powder
- 1tsp Onion Powder
- 1tsp Salt
- 2tsp Black Pepper
- 1tsp Celery powder
- Each patty picked up about 10g Corn flake crumbs
- Low-calorie bun
- Romaine Lettuce
- 7g of Light Mayo
The chef also wrote in the caption that the exact calorie count will vary depending on what buns and mayonnaise you use for the recipe, as well as how much mayonnaise you use.
He added: "Calories and macros will vary depending on the mayo brand and bun brand. Portioning is important for calorie intake as well so to be accurate, learn what a portion size is or invest in a food scale to measure. 20 calories of mayo can quickly go to 100 calories if measured incorrectly."
Commenters on the video were blown away by his recipe, with many saying they were going to try it out for themselves as soon as possible.
One person wrote: "Done and dusted, out of this world."
While another added: "Making this tonight!"
