Chef shares 'genius' egg hack the expert 'couldn't believe' she hadn't tried

A chef on TikTok has been left astounded after discovering a simple way to cut eggs that she's shared with her 1.2 million followers.

Sneji, also known as @TheModernNonna on the video-sharing app, is known for posting helpful tips, tricks and recipes that make cooking easier.

In one of her recent viral videos, the foodie influencer admitted she "couldn't believe" she'd gone this long without knowing this easy way to separate the yolk from the white in a hard-boiled egg. She urged her followers to try it, saying it was the "best way" to perfectly separate eggs in any recipe.

All it takes to get all the white part off the yolk is one simple movement with a knife that she demonstrates in the video, the Express reported.

Placing a hard-boiled egg on a wooden chopping board and inserting a sharp knife into it, she simply rolled the egg all the way around with the blade still intact.

In the video's voiceover, Sneji explained: "You simply insert a chef's knife in the middle of a hard-boiled egg and gently roll the egg for the perfect cut."

Her video has had a huge number of views on TikTok - 1.9 million and counting - and 21K likes on the app.

"It looks like the seed from an avocado," one fan commented. "I learn everyday on TikTok!" someone said in the comments.

The trick has been shared by other influencers too. A clip was also shared by TikToker Andrea VanDerwerke, who wrote: "I'm just figuring this out now after almost 30 years on this spinning rock."

She went on: "Hey, if you guys all knew about cutting hard-boiled eggs like this and you didn't tell me, we're going to have some serious beef. Look at that! No yolk all over the knife, it's so clean. Are you kidding me?"

In the comments, people were equally as astounded to find out about the simple hack that makes separating eggs easier.

One person said: "I am so glad I saw this before making deviled eggs next week!" One wrote: "My jaw dropped."

"So we are cutting eggs avocado style?! I never knew that was possible," one said. Another wrote: "Day 9865 that TikTok taught me something that I should’ve learned in school."
