Chef Nigella Lawson's controversial Christmas decor is raising eyebrows – but I think it is a playful homage to what she does best

English cook and food critic, Nigella Lawson, attends a book signing and lunch at Chiswick Restaurant in Woollahra, Sydney, during an Australian tour, January 22, 2018.

Nigella Lawson is much more than just a culinary expert. The celebrity chef also has a penchant for playful holiday decor. Tis the season to be me merry and bright, after all.

The star of Nigella Bites and Nigella Feasts shared a photo of her decorated Christmas tree on Instagram showcasing her unique yet somewhat bizarre take on Christmas decor ideas. Along with pretty tinsel and decorative fairy lighting, Lawson also hung up an embellished set of ornaments – strips of crispy bacon, albeit glass versions.

Sharing the reason for her unusual choice of tree decor, Lawson explained: 'Since I posted a recipe for edible Christmas tree decorations just the other day, you could be forgiven for thinking I've actually hung real rashers of crisp streaky bacon on my tree this year, but these are in fact actual ornaments – and I'm crazy about them!

Many of the star's fans applauded Lawson's individualism and creativity, calling the tree 'sizzling' – and we couldn't agree more with her food-focused choice.

Christmas is the perfect time of the year to experiment with jolly, unexpected Christmas tree ideas. It is a gentle reminder that you do not always have to take your home decor ideas so seriously. If you don't fancy bacon, most retailers will have you covered. From Stanely Water Bottles to Chartecurie Boards, Target has an excellent selection of Christmas tree ornaments.
