Chef Johnathan Shillingford Reflects On Challenging Guests And Crew Criticism

Chef Johnathan addresses rude guests' behavior and commends their accountability.

On a recent episode of Below Deck Mediterranean, Chef Johnathan Shillingford addressed the behavior of some rude guests who insulted the crew, followed by issuing a public apology. The chef commended the guests for taking responsibility for their snarky comments, acknowledging that everyone can have a bad day. He also appreciated the guests' accountability for their offensive remarks.

While Chef Johnathan acknowledged that reality TV shows may edit or dramatize situations, he emphasized that the guests did make offensive comments. He praised Captain Sandy Yawn for supporting the crew during the challenging encounter with the guests.

One of the guests, Neysla Paltsev, later issued an apology on social media, expressing regret for her behavior during the dinner service. She admitted that her actions were not appropriate and apologized for being rude.

In addition to dealing with difficult guests, Chef Johnathan also faced criticism from the crew regarding his food choices. Reflecting on challenging charters, he shared insights into the pressure he felt during certain situations, including a moment when he thought he might be fired for a decision he made.

Despite the challenges, Chef Johnathan stood by his choices, emphasizing the necessity of his decisions in the given circumstances. He expressed satisfaction with how the crew handled the situations and noted that the guests appeared content by the end of the charter.

Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 continues to air on Bravo, with new episodes available for streaming on Peacock the day after they premiere on TV.
