Cheeky East Lothian pup hops in woman's car and tries to steal her sandwich

A cheeky East Lothian staffy gave a shopper an amusing fright when they decided to hop into the passenger seat of her vehicle and have a lick of her newly purchased sandwich.

Warren Soulsby, 25, is the owner of Bear who is still in his puppy stage at 13 months old. He says that his cheeky pooch loves getting into the car and so when he saw an open passenger door he could not pass up the opportunity to hop in.

The pair regularly attend the local Tranent Aldi store and cut through the car park each day, normally without incident. But on Friday October 21, the four legged chancer decided to join a woman in her vehicle after her passenger had left the door open to return a trolley.

Bear made himself comfortable and unfortunately spotted a sandwich in the driver's hand. Not one to miss an opportunity, he politely tried to grab a lick.

Thankfully, the vehicle owner saw the funny side of the whole ordeal and offered Bear the rest of her lunch. But the dog had his fill of excitement and instead scurried back to Warren before they headed back home.

Warren took to Facebook to say that he hoped to locate the woman in order to offer her funds for a new sandwich. He spoke to Edinburgh Live to share the amusing ordeal: “We just had our newborn baby come home yesterday and whilst the midwife was speaking to my other half I headed out with my dog Bear.

“We nipped to the shops to get a few things. He sits outside the store no bother and waits for me to come out.

“We headed through the car park as we do every day - it is part of our daily routine. But when we headed through there was a lady sitting in her.

“The door was left wide open as the passenger had nipped to put the trolley back. Spotting an opportunity to get in the car, Bear decided to hop into the seat and sit there calmly.

“Whilst I jogged over he edged his head forward and licked the sandwich in the woman's hand. I ran over and just kept apologising to the woman.

“The woman found it hilarious and even offered him the rest of the sandwich but he just hopped out and plodded home.”
