Motorcycle enthusiasts from the land down under mustn’t miss Shannons’ upcoming Timed Online Summer Auction. Some pretty iconic and rare bikes will be on offer which includes several classic Ducatis, a limited-edition MV Agusta, and a rotary-powered Norton.
The Ducati lots will have a few units in varying conditions. We have circa 1970 Ducati 900 Super Sport and 750 Sport models that may require a little love once they reach owners. The bikes themselves are expected to appeal to collectors of the Italian brand and go between $30,000 AUD to $40,000 AUD, or about $20,000 USD to about $30,000 USD.
Next up are two 900 Mike Hailwood Replicas (MHR900s) with one from 1979 and the other from 1981. Shannon is estimating that the 1979 model will go for around $48,000 AUD to $58,000 AUD (about $34,000 USD to $41,000 USD), while the 1981 unit is estimated to fetch between $25,000 AUD to $35,000 AUD, or about $17,000 USD to $25,000 USD. These bikes are considered blue-chip collector's items due to their rarity brought about small production numbers. The first MHR is well maintained and restored while the latter from 1981 hasn’t been started in recent years and is in “project condition.”
The last Ducati in the mix is a circa-1973 Ducati 750 GT that’s been in storage since 2011 and isn’t running. It’ll probably be the cheapest way to get in on this lot having an estimated auction value somewhere between $20,000 AUD to $25,000 AUD ($14,000 USD to $18,000 USD).
Taking a break from the Ducatis, we move to Varese with MV Agusta. A more modern lot this time is up for grabs with the 2019 MV Agusta Brutale 800RR Lewis Hamilton Edition. There are only 144 of these motorcycles in the world, and this is number 004 in the production run. Shannons knows that this bike’s one desirable unit and it’s estimating it to go for somewhere between $38,000 AUD to $46,000 AUD ($27,000 USD to 33,000 USD).
The last bike on the list is a 1988 twin rotary Norton Commander P53. Immediately, the bike becomes a very novel collector’s item because of its engine and the mystique and collectability of vintage Norton bikes. It’s a rarer model to see from the brand it’s a tourer that is expected to sell for between $24,000 AUD to $30,000 AUD ($17,000 USD to $22,000 USD).
