Check Out New Scarecrow Skins And Dark Bomber Cosmetics Leaked In Fortnite's Patch 6.01

Fortnite

We’ve got another drop of leaked skins in Fortnite: Battle Royale. It used to be that these only came with large-scale patches every two weeks, but it looks like Epic is keen to keep some of its cards closer to the chest as the game matures. You still can’t get around the leaked skin thing, however: unless you want to store all cosmetics on a remote server you essentially have to get new premium skins into the game before they actually arrive. And so it looks like leaks are now arriving weekly rather than bi-weekly, which means we’ve got a small clutch of new cosmetics to look at with the arrival of this morning’s 6.1 patch.

Below images come courtesy of Fortnite: Battle Royale Leaks, which you can follow on Twitter here.

Fortnite

Skins: Straw Ops/Hay Man– To start with, we’ve got the scarecrow skins teased in the Season 6, Week 1 loading screen. Again, these are an absolute no-brainer for a fall/Halloween-themed season, but they’re cool nonetheless. They’re clearly leaning into Halloween as much as they are fall, because these things are a whole lot less Wizard of Oz and a whole lot more “80′ slasher flick.” They’re excellent-looking regardless, and it’s still something to see this year’s Halloween skins held up next to last year’s venerated but still more or less lackluster editions.

Fortnite

Back Blings: Hay Nest/ Bird Hovel–The back blings to go along with the scarecrow skins. Totally straightforward here, and good if you’re trying to go for a complete aesthetic. Some skins you buy for the skin itself, others for the back blings: I’d say this set is more the former than the latter.

Fortnite

Gliders: Dark Glyph/Field Wraith–The glider to go with the scarecrow set is an early standout in the season, no doubt. I’m excited to see it in action, but it’s already got the shambling horror thing down in a still image, with terrifying little flowers to boot. The Dark Glyph is clearly meant to go alongside the Dark Bomber, though she herself has yet to make an appearance. It’s a fairly straightforward uncommon-tier glider, with a glyph motif to go alongside the cube that we assume spawned it.

Fortnite

Axes: Thunder Crash/Harvester–And here we’ve got the axes. The Harvester is brutal, even if it doesn’t change the basic image of the pickaxe in as many ways as some other harvesting tools. It still has a clean savagery to it that I can get behind, and I expect it to be popular. Thunder Crash couldn’t be more straightforward: it’s just a “dark” version of Rainbow Smash, the Brite Bomber pickaxe and perennial Fortnite favorite. I mostly like Brite Bomber for the yet-to-be-bested back bling, but the ancillary cosmetics aren’t so bad, either.

Fortnite

T-Pose: Clearly an emote meant to go alongside a scarecrow skin, and perhaps useful for fooling the most misinformed players in the game.
