It’s a question we ask ourselves every year – go faux or opt for a real Christmas tree? Well, if you’ve come to unbox your artificial tree and it’s looking a bit worse for wear this year, but money is tight, there are some retailers selling real Christmas trees for as little as £11 - so you won’t have to go without.
Not only are real trees affordable, but they’re also great for the environment, more sustainable, and really - can you beat the smell of fresh pine needles in your home throughout the festive season?
We’ve been taking a look at the price of real 5ft Christmas trees at bargain retailers and supermarkets so you can pick up a tree in time for December 25.

We visited B&M, Home Bargains, Aldi, Lidl, Morrisons and Asda, and found prices ranging from £10.99 to £20 - so here’s where to head if you want to bring that authentic sense of Christmas into your home.
Aldi
Shoppers can make huge savings on a 100 per cent British grown Christmas tree this winter with prices starting under £15. The German supermarket saw record sales of its British grown trees last year, with purchases up +25 per cent on. the previous year.
Their most affordable is the Medium Nordman Fir Christmas Tree just £14.99, which has fast become a favourite amongst Aldi customers. The medium sized tree is a quality hand-selected fir, perfect for an eye-catching display this festive season.
B&M
All of B&M’s real Christmas trees are sourced from UK suppliers that use growing techniques that pride themselves on growing well-balanced trees that receive a great deal of care throughout their growing life.
The bargain store is selling two varieties of trees across stores nationwide. The Norway Spruce 5-6ft with prices starting at just £15, and the Nordman Fir 5-6ft also from £15.
Home Bargains
Home Bargains are helping shoppers get into the festive spirit for less by stocking an assortment of real Christmas trees for just over a tenner. The retailer is now stocking an assortment of 5ft Nordmann Fir Christmas trees that will set shoppers back just £10.99.
Nordmann Fir is an incredibly popular choice for a real tree during the holidays, with many preferring it for its distinctive shape that is easy to decorate with baubles and tinsel.
Morrisons
At Morrisons your Christmas tree will set you back almost £20, coming in at £19.99 for a Nordmann Fir. Your ‘big’ supermarkets are certainly the pricier of the real trees, but still come in cheaper than places like Homebase and B&Q.
Asda
Asda is stocking a selection of fresh cut Nordmann Firs this year, standing around 5ft having been grown for around 11 years. They’re said to have ‘excellent needle retention’ and comes in the most expensive on this list at £20.
Lidl
Fresh cut non-drop Nordmann Firs are available at Lidl for £17.99. The trees have been sourced in the UK from Berkshire to the Scottish highlands, sustainably grown by experts amongst 2,000 acres of woodland, according to the supermarket.
Shoppers who buy a real tree from Lidl can even use their tree tracker to see exactly where their tree was grown using the number from the tree's pink tag.

Wear garden gloves when handling them as sensitive skin can get a mild allergic reaction and rash.
When you get your tree home, leave it outside until you are ready to decorate, then when you do bring it indoors follow these important steps:
