The UK is currently facing a cost-of-living crisis as fuel prices have reached record highs.
Russia's invasion of Ukraine has sparked a price hike as the average cost of petrol hit new highs on Tuesday. The RAC estimate petrol rose to £1.67p and the cost of diesel rose to nearly £1.80. Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced in the Spring Statement fuel duty would be cut by 5p a litre to help motorists with the rising prices. The slash was introduced at 6pm last night and means the rate was reduced to 52.92p for both petrol and diesel.
