Cheapest petrol prices in Scotland's cities as fuel cost reaches record levels

Scots face paying more at the pumps after average UK fuel prices reached record highs earlier this week.

Yesterday, we reported that the average cost of petrol in the UK has now risen to 152.9p, while average diesel prices have now increased to 158.98p.

The ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine means the global cost of gas and oil has risen sharply in recent days.

And there are concerns this could worsen following decisions from the UK and US to announce bans on the importation of Russian oil.

Russia is the second largest producer of crude oil in the world.

Fuel campaigners fear that the cost of petrol could rise to as high as £2 per litre within days.
