The average price of fuel has dropped by an average of 10 per cent in December, according to a survey from the AA.
Current prices are at their lowest since the beginning of the Ukraine war in February 2022. Earlier this year prices of petrol and diesel soared well past €2 a litre.
Now the average price for a litre of petrol is down to €1.60, the lowest average price for petrol since September 2021. The average price for diesel is now €1.74 per litre. This is the lowest price for diesel since February 2022 and a 11.3 per cent drop since last month.

While this is good news for motorists, the AA Ireland's Head of Communications, Paddy Comyn, said there was no firm indication as to how long these prices would last.
