Cheap travel insurance that covers Covid-19 ahead of Easter holidays

When planning a holiday, it's important to be prepared and if the pandemic has taught us anything, it's that things can change very quickly.

It is advised that Brits add travel insurance to their trips, especially as Covid rules can change in different countries.

But be aware that not all insurance covers all Covid related problems. If you're flying to a place where the FCDO has advised not to travel, you will unlikely be covered by the average insurance.

Travel insurance can cover you when you're away as well as any issues you may run into on the days leading up to your holiday. It can cover you for cancellation, events such as redundancy or an injury or death in the family and you're also covered if you catch coronavirus shortly before your trip and can't go.

It is also worth checking if your bank offers travel insurance, or you might even already have it without knowing, but as Money Saving Expert warns, don't confuse travel insurance with 'travel accident insurance' that can also be offered with banks.

You can purchase travel insurance from:

  • Insurance companies
  • Banks
  • Retailers and supermarkets
  • Travel agents
  • Online comparison websites
  • Holiday companies

Here, 'family' is based on two adults aged 40 and two children aged 10 and 15 travelling.

MSE also added that: "As no policy is completely comprehensive as regards Covid and cancellation, it's still best to book flexible, easily-cancellable flights and hotels so you can cancel or rearrange your trip if you're caught by restrictions."
