Cheap theatre tickets for The Lion King, Mamma Mia and Rocky Horror Show from £13 in February

With January’s long awaited payday here, it’s time to start getting some dates in the diary so you’ve got some shows and events to look forward to over the next 12 months - and there’s a bit of something for everyone at Manchester’s Palace Theatre and Opera House this February.

Continuing its mammoth run at Palace Theatre is The Lion King, which will remain in the city centre until March 11. We reckon the last week or so is going to be packed, so if you want to catch it before the 200+ puppets leave the city, February is your best bet.

There’s been phenomenal demand for this production, and as such, most nights are already sold out. In February, there are a handful of tickets available from £75, with all of the cheapest £20 seats snapped up.

When Manchester Evening News went to see the show, our reviewer said: “This beautifully reimagined on stage production of a beloved animated classic is a powerful, emotive and completely unique show that I’ll remember forever.

“It’s visually spectacular, completely immersive and absolutely breathtaking. It truly is the King of Musicals, and the roars from the audience were proof enough that it’s not one to be missed.” Read the full review of The Lion King here .

Over at the Opera House, there are five shows running throughout the month, including Mamma Mia and The Rocky Horror Show.

January 31 will mark the start of a 12-day run of Mamma Mia, cleverly told through the timeless songs of ABBA. The description reads: “Sophie’s quest to discover the father she’s never known brings her mother face to face with three men from her distant romantic past on the eve of a wedding they’ll never forget.

“Whatever age you are, you can’t help but have the time of your life at Mamma Mia!” You can buy your tickets from £22 here.

Then, for one night only, there’s Some Guys Have All The Luck - The Rod Stewart Story, which will take to the stage on February 18.

Endorse by Rod’s own family, and widely acknowledged as the UK’s best, frontman Paul Metcalfe is ‘breath-taking’ as Rod and captures all the excitement, energy and charisma of the legendary performer including the phenomenal vocals, infamous moves and swaggering showmanship that have made Rod one of the most successful artists of all time.

Tickets for this show are also available from £22, and can be purchased on the ATG website.

If you fancy getting into the Time Warp, the Rocky Horror Show will hit the Opera House from February 20 to February 25. This is always a very fun show to attend, as many members of the audience dress up and take props, so be sure to dig out your fishnets, feather boas and corset tops. It’s a really affordable night out, too, with tickets from just £13. You can pick up yours here.

Completing the month are two one-nighters, including The Chicago Blues Brothers - The Cruisin' For A Bluesin Tour on February 26, and Sounds of the 60s Live with Tony Blackburn on February 28.

Tickets for both of these performances are less than £30, and it’s a great way to enjoy some live music, have a drink and a dance in one of the city’s most stunning historic buildings.
