The Trump administration's new look for the White House many be more achievable than many would think.
President Donald Trump's return to the White House in January was accompanied by a variety of changes, including to the building's interior design.
Broadcasted meetings from within the Oval Office demonstrated changes in design to viewers, who noted that the Trump administration removed the Biden-era Swedish ivy and replaced it with decorative gold medallions.
However, the same medallion was seemingly replicated and placed in various locations within the Oval Office, from the fireplace to the ceiling, causing journalists at Sherwood News to question how the decoration was manufactured.
Further research turned up similar-looking "decorative appliques" on online wholesale retailers such as Alibaba. "High-density Home Decoration Polyurethane Appliques Ornament PU Foam Veneer Accessories" from Guangzhou Homemax Decorative Material Limited on Alibaba is almost identical to the items on display in the White House.
The items are available in many colors: "matte white most, or gold, silver, antique gold or bronze, mixed color, customized color."
To purchase these medallions, one must order a minimum of 50 of them. There are various similar designs listed on Alibaba priced from anywhere between $1 to $5.
Manufacturers at Alibaba confirmed that the item was in stock, but did not confirm whether or not it was their product on display within the White House.
