With energy prices set to rise sharply from October, many Brits may be looking for cheap alternatives to keeping warm during the winter months.
Fortunately, one shopper has discovered an age-old reliable item which they praise as being an "excellent alternative to putting the heating on". The item which made them so ecstatic was the £25 Argos under blanket which is reported to only run for 1p a night, Nottinghamshire Live reports.
"I'm really glad I purchased this because I'll never have to get in bed and feel cold sheets again," the shopper said in an online review of the product. "On the lowest setting it just takes the chill off and makes you feel nice and cosy," they added.

"It doesn't cover the entire surface of the bed and I would like it to be slightly longer so that the control was higher up and fully under the pillow but it is on the side so I don't lie on it. The straps mean that it fits securely to the bed under the sheet and there is no movement."
The 'Slumberdown Essential Warmth Underblanket" runs for £20 for a single-bed size and £25 for a small double-bed. It ranks as one of the cheapest electric blankets on the Argos size and has a wide variety of sizes available, including a £140 king size Dreamland Organic dual control blanket.
One other purchaser wrote a similar colourful review of the product. They said: "Wonderful. Had a cheeky test out the other night! Glorious! Will be a life saver if we have a chilly winter!!"
Another shopper said: "I've bought this blanket ready for this winter, the one that I've got (it's the same one) I've had for 3 years, it's still working, but because I'm disabled I have to spend a lot of time in bed and want a backup one. This blanket is brilliant."
According to Argos' description of the blanket, the product is designed to "keep your toes toast". And notes that the blanket has three settings so that "you can achieve the perfect temperature for your cost cocoon to curl up in".
It continues: "Conveniently, it's machine washable and has low energy consumption with auto shut off, giving you peace of mind."
