Ex-Scotland international Simon Donnelly has claimed Che Adams should start against Ireland despite Lyndon Dykes' recent goalscoring heroics against Ukraine.
The 47-year-old feels that Steve Clarke will opt for the Southampton man once again at Hampden, even though the former Livingston star netted twice during the last Nations League match.
He thinks the current QPR striker 'reaped the rewards' of the Premier League forwards hard work.
While the ex-Scotland international did praise Dykes, he is adamant in his opinion that Steve Clarke will not make any changes for the crucial fixture.
"Anybody that comes off the bench and scores two goals has a good claim to start, but Che Adams has done well for Scotland," he said.
"Dykes is a big target man, whilst Adams is more mobile, it suited the way the game went because Adams did all the work, taking players to different areas, Dykes came on and reaped those rewards.
"I don't see Steve Clark changing the team, but it's a great option to have, Dykes must be bursting with confidence after scoring two goals.
"It's good to know that if the game isn't going well for Scotland, we have a player like Dykes to bring on.
"I don't see Dykes starting."
