Chauncey Billups and Vince Carter have been selected as part of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame's Class of 2024, as announced by the Hall during the Final Four in Phoenix. Billups, known for his contributions to the Detroit Pistons' 2004 NBA championship win, was named NBA Finals MVP. Throughout his career spanning 1,043 games, primarily with the Pistons (2002-08) and Denver Nuggets, he maintained averages of 15.2 points and 5.4 assists. Billups also holds the impressive sixth position in NBA/ABA history for his career free-throw percentage of 89.4.
Vince Carter, the only player to have competed in the NBA across four different decades, made a significant impact with the Toronto Raptors, emerging as the franchise's first star player early on. With a career scoring average of 16.7 points per game, Carter set single-season franchise scoring records for both the Raptors and the Nets. His legacy includes winning the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest in a memorable fashion and ranking ninth in league history for 3-pointers made (2,290).
Joining Billups and Carter in the Hall of Fame's Class of 2024 are Michael Cooper, Seimone Augustus, Jerry West, Herb Simon, Doug Collins, Bo Ryan, Walter Davis, Charles Smith, Dick Barnett, Harley Redin, and Michele Timms. The enshrinement ceremony is scheduled to take place in Springfield, Massachusetts, on August 16-17.
